Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026. The grant checker is free, anonymous and needs no sign-up. We only hold personal data (your email) if you explicitly ask us to send you a report.
1. Who we are
Irish Property Grant Finder (propertygrantfinder.ie) is a free tool that helps Irish property owners, renters, and developers identify government grants they may be eligible for. We are the data controller for the information described below. We are not a financial adviser and do not apply for grants on your behalf.
2. Using the grant checker (no sign-up, no personal data)
To generate your results we process the following during your session:
- Property address and county you enter
- Your role (owner, renter, or developer/buyer)
- Property details retrieved from public databases (e.g. the SEAI BER register, planning and listing records)
- Your answers to follow-up eligibility questions
Your address is used only during your session to look up property details and is not stored in our database. You do not need to create an account, and you never have to give us your name or email to see your results.
3. Anonymous results record we keep
When an evaluation completes, we store an anonymised record of the result so we can understand demand and improve the service (for example, how many people in a county may qualify for a given scheme). This record contains no personal data — specifically it does not contain your name, email, full address or full Eircode, and it never stores your exact income. It holds only:
- County and role
- A broad income band (e.g. "€30k–€60k") — never the figure you entered
- Non-identifying property facts (BER rating, approximate build year) and your yes/no eligibility answers
- Which grant schemes matched, the estimated total value, and any optional intent you tell us (timeline and stage)
We also record an anonymous "search started" count — just the county searched and a timestamp — so we can measure overall traffic, including visitors who don't complete a check. This contains no IP address, no address and nothing that identifies you.
Lawful basis: our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in measuring demand and improving a free public-information service. Because these records are not linked to your identity, they present minimal privacy impact.
4. Email report and optional contact (only if you choose)
Beneath your results you can optionally enter your email so we can send you a personalised grant report. If you do:
- We store your email address, the wording of the consent shown to you, and a timestamp, linked to your anonymous results record.
- Lawful basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). We use your email only to send you the report and, if relevant, follow-up about it.
Separately, and only if you tick the dedicated box (which is unticked by default), you can consent to relevant registered providers — installers, brokers and BER assessors — contacting you about these grants. This is a distinct, optional consent; requesting the report and agreeing to provider contact are never bundled together. You can withdraw either consent at any time (see section 7).
5. Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. We share it only as follows:
- Registered providers — only your contact details, and only if you ticked the separate provider-contact consent box.
- Service providers — our hosting and database run on Microsoft Azure (EU region), acting as our processor.
- We never pass your query to the public data sources (SEAI, local authorities, listing sites) in a way that identifies you personally.
6. How long we keep it
- Your email / lead record: kept until you ask us to delete it, or until it is no longer needed for the purpose you gave it for — whichever comes first — after which it is deleted.
- Anonymous results records: as these contain no personal data, we may retain them indefinitely for statistics and service improvement.
7. Your rights & how to request deletion
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to object to or restrict processing. As the results record holds no personal data, these rights apply to the email/lead information you have given us.
To exercise any of these — including deleting your email and withdrawing provider-contact consent — email [email protected] from the address you signed up with, or naming it in your message. We will action deletion requests within one month, as required by the GDPR. Deleting your personal record does not remove the separate anonymous results record, which cannot be linked back to you. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission.
8. Cookies and analytics
We may use privacy-respecting analytics (no personally identifiable tracking) to understand how the tool is used and improve it over time. No advertising cookies are used.
9. Disclaimer
Grant data is sourced from official Irish government websites and is updated regularly. Eligibility results are indicative only. Always verify your eligibility directly with the relevant grant authority before applying.
